Susan Black has spent her 28-year career in travel industry leadership roles. Most recently she was Chief Marketing Officer of CheapCaribbean.com, where she led marketing strategy for the $180 million online retail and wholesale vacation Package Company.
Prior to that she was Executive Vice President, Marketing, of LibGo Travel (Liberty Travel and GOGO Worldwide Vacations), through 2005, where she was a member of LibGo's six person Executive Committee, reporting directly to the company's owners. She was also responsible for coordinating the re-launch of Liberty Travel's consumer site, and directly participated in all stages of website information architecture and creative strategy.
Prior to joining LibGo Travel, she founded and chaired the six-year-old Travel Commerce Conference and Expo (TravelCom) in conjunction with Forrester Research, where she directed the growth of TravelCom into a multi-million dollar conference/tradeshow, culminating in an August 2005 sale to the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA).
Susan's previous posts include Chairman of eTravelWorld, General Manager and Publisher of Thomas Travel Ventures, Thomas Publishing Co., Associate Publisher of Corporate Travel Magazine (Gralla Publications/Miller Freeman), which was later sold to VNU's Business Travel News, and Senior Editor of Meeting News Magazine.
She was also a co-founder of the travel strategy consultancy, The Black and Wright Group. Susan's professional memberships include Board of Directors of The Association of Travel Marketing Executives (ATME); TIA's eCommerce Committee member/Chairman of the 2008 Executive Women's Forum at TIA's TravelCom tradeshow and conference; member of Hospitality Sales and Marketing International (HSMAI) and member of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA). She also currently serves as Task Force Member - HSMAI/CHA Caribbean Sales & Marketing Strategy Conf and on the Editorial Advisory Board - Travel Distribution Report/Travel Research Bureau.
