Social Service Enterprises

Lead By Philip A. Diaz & Dr. Ernest D. Cantley

With over 1.8 million IRS recognized non-profits in the US competition for donation dollars has reached critical point social sector agencies to close, consolidate or innovate. Visionary organizations have been exploring and developing alternative income streams that will provide revenue growth to sustain and grow the mission of the non-profit organization. We have created services to support this new direction for the social sector.

One impact of the current economic climate is that clearly the day of the non-profit model solely dependent on charity dollars and government funds to sustain it is also gone. The businesses that supported us and the local community funds that covered deficits are in trouble themselves.

Many people perceive the current problem for the non-profit community a lack of resources available due to the economic turn down. In fact the problem is much deeper than just the state of the economy. The premise that the public or the government can always support good works efforts to remedy social problems is faulty. It is based on the ability financially for individuals and governments to contribute to those efforts. While it is necessary for business to become more socially responsible it is also necessary for the non-profit sector to become financially independent to the degree it can.

Just as for decades Headstart programs had sister for-profit daycare programs to offset deficit so all non-profits projects will need the same model. Non-profits need to meet the challenge to become more self reliant.

Chimney Rock recognizes this sea change and has become a market leader in offering services targeted to help community based agencies and business develop for-profit options to help meet their mission.
